This should be easy, right?

Just click on kyero.com and bingo:  there’s your house.

Unfortunately, there are +179,000 houses to choose from- just from this one website.

You need to narrow down your search. Spain is a surprisingly large and diverse country.

Texas, The United States of America.
  • Spain is roughly the size of Texas.

Spain
  • Spain has 17 autonomous regions.

Windmills of La Mancha
  • Spain has three main climate zones: mediterranean, oceanic, and arid.  But, it also has some areas which are alpine, tropical, and hot desert.

It would take a mighty long time to visit all the amazing and beautiful places in Spain.  As I mentioned before, it is Fricken’ Awesome.

So, what is the house buyer to do?

What did we do?

We went there on vacation and fell in love… with this place and the very special kind of houses that happen to be pretty common there…

And, you could do the same.

But, I recommend a bit more logical approach.

First, ask yourself the following simple questions:

1- Am I a city mouse or a country mouse?
2- What kind of weather do I most enjoy?
3- What activities do I want to pursue?
4- What’s your idea of home?

The answers to these questions should dramatically narrow down your house search.

If you hate rain, Galicia is probably not your best choice.

Can’t stand the heat? Stay away from the hotter, more arid parts of Andalusia.

You love the sea, but can’t stand crowds, you probably should avoid Costa del Sol.

Our answers were: country mice, warm and dry, walking and biking, a refuge.

Here’s a nice little Vlog discussing the different areas of Spain:
