This is my monkey-lovin blog

I am one lucky S.O.B.

But, sometimes, the Black Dog gets me by the throat and worries me like a thrift store teddy bear.

When that happens, I find it helps to remember the good things in life.  And, that is what this blog is about:  the good shit.

Let's face it, the world can be pretty damn depressing sometimes.  Downright evil.
In the face of this monolithic doom, we must celebrate what is bright, good, and lovely.
So, you ask, what are these bright, good, lovely things that will keep us from letting the sheer weight of life grind us to dust or pull us under the midnight waves of despair?
Well, I don't intend to talk about the song of the Purple Sunbird or the smell of the Arabian lilac.

But, some days, these are enough.  Sometimes, it's a baby's laugh, a silly Facebook post, or a child's embrace.
There isn't much I can tell you about bird watching (twitching), gardening, or surfing the web.
I'm going to leave music out as well.  This is not because I don't care about music. I cannot imagine a day without music.  I love to sing. I play the guitar badly. I think the Pandora app is one of the best things ever.  But, music is not something I feel I can tell you anything about that you don't already know. If you haven't listened to B. B. KingBob Dylan, Tom Waits, or Jimi Hendrix, you should stop reading now and do so. There are a number of other artists that are must-listen-to's, and if you want my recommendations, drop me an email, and I'll happily post them.  But, I have no real insight into music.
What I can share with you are those few things (passions or obsessions) that I have some experience or possible insight into that may be of some use:

Food, particularly barbecue.

Writing, particularly fiction.

Travel, particularly foreign.

Learning, particularly languages.

Buy my novels. Buy my novels. Buy my novels.
